As of March 2019, holders of Mastercard® Black Card™, Mastercard® Gold Card™, and Mastercard® Titanium Card™ should have received their annual little black book of travel and lifestyle: Luxury Card Hotel & Travel 2019. Though not so little—it’s a lengthy 424 pages—the book details exclusives to Luxury Card holders, namely the hotel and travel discount program available when booking hotels, private jets, and travel services through Luxury Card ConciergeTM. Here are some of the highlights from this year’s book.
Look forward to new Luxury Card EXPERIENCES and lifestyle app
New for 2019 are more than two dozen Luxury Card EXPERIENCES, highly curated once-in-a-lifetime experiences under the following categories: Activity & Adventure, Sports & Entertainment, Art & Culture, Family, and Culinary & Wine. Sports lovers, for example, can book an experience to meet and greet the F1 drivers at the Grand Prix Monaco and rub elbows with glitterati at invitation-only parties while oenophiles can book a seven-day culinary tour of France that includes a private visit of Champagne house Veuve Clicquot and private cooking classes with a noted chef. The offerings are available to cardholders of all three Luxury Cards when booking through Luxury Card Concierge™ and paying with a Luxury Card.
Also new this year is a lifestyle mobile app, giving Luxury Card holders concierge access in the palm of their hands. The Luxury Card App is different than other credit card apps on the market: It offers concierge and personal assistant services via live chat, 24/7, directly from the app. This is a game changer for those of us who love using our premium credit cards’ travel and concierge services but don’t feel like calling in to book the likes of dinner reservations, airline flights, hotels, and concert tickets. Moreover, cardholders can now access all of the savings and exclusives from the hotel and travel discount program when booking through the Luxury Card App (in addition to booking by email or phone).
The Luxury Card Hotel & Travel 2019 program offers discounts at more than 3,000 hotels worldwide
Detailed by property within the program guide (also available digitally on the credit card’s post-login landing page), the specific benefits at each location are impressive.
The savings from this program can be pretty huge. For example, based on 2018 bookings of three nights or more using Luxury Card Concierge, Cardmembers received an average of $500 in benefits and services per stay. Said benefits came in the form of room upgrades, spa credits, complimentary food and beverage packages, early check-in, late check-out, complimentary Wi-Fi, and more.
Though amenities vary by property, some are standard by hotel brand. For example, at all Mandarin Oriental properties, Luxury Card members will get a room upgrade upon arrival (when available), daily breakfast for two, complimentary Wi-Fi, a welcome amenity, VIP status, and a $50 credit for suite bookings (per stay).
The Luxury Card Hotel & Travel 2019 program keeps its exclusive partnership with Sentient Jet
Sentient Jet, the world’s largest provider of private jet travel and inventor of the Jet Card—a debit card of sorts with fixed-rate hours for private jet travel—continues to offer numerous privileges for Luxury Card members looking to become new Sentient Jet Cardholders. New members can purchase a 20-hour card, bypassing the normal 25-hour requirement. They are entitled to one complimentary hour of flight time (valued at $5,000–$14,000, depending on Jet Card category), a $500 credit for either ground transportation or premium catering, and a $1,500 Mastercard gift card.
The Luxury Card Hotel & Travel 2019 program offers new discounts on executive transport services
New for 2019 is a partnership with Carey International, a worldwide ground transportation service that operates under brands Carey and Embarque, the former with a “world-class fleet of late-model executive and luxury vehicles and a corps of professional chauffeurs” and the latter with “a fleet of fuel-efficient vehicles.”
Luxury Card members are entitled to up to a $50 discount for their first booking, up to 10% discount on base rates, and complimentary vehicle upgrades based on availability.
The Luxury Card Hotel & Travel 2019 program has several exclusive hotel partnerships
Similar to last year, the 2019 program has a number of exclusive hotel partnerships with one new addition.
That newcomer is Farmhouse Inn in the heart of California wine country. When Cardmembers book their stay at this boutique Sonoma property through the Luxury Card Concierge, they can look forward to a complimentary $50 breakfast credit daily, a $50 spa credit, a complimentary nonalcoholic mini bar, a welcome food amenity, a room upgrade (based on availability), complimentary nightly wine tastings on property, VIP access to select wineries, and turndown surprises.
Exclusive partnerships of years past remain. At Gramercy Park Hotel in New York City, for instance, Luxury Card members are entitled to a room upgrade (when available), a complimentary breakfast via room service, early check-in and late check-out (when available), complimentary Wi-Fi, a welcome amenity, a $50 food and beverage credit, and priority for reservations at Maialino Restaurant.
At Canyon Ranch properties in Tucson, Arizona, and Lenox, Massachusetts, Luxury Card members are entitled to the following (with four-night and three-night minimum bookings, respectively): 25% off any package stay, upgrade to Executive Room (when available), $320 service allowance for spa, sports, or health and healing services, complimentary airport transfers, and more.
